Bike path deal reached

Pertains to Salt Creek Greenway, Rolling Meadows, Palatine
Rolling Meadows alderman Tuesday night approved an agreement with the Palatine Park District to share maintenance costs of the Salt Creek bicycle path. Rolling Meadows will pay for path surface maintenance, while the parks will handle litter control. Capital improvements and bridge maintenance will be divided equally by the two agencies. They agreed to pay their portion of the expenses within 30 days. The agreement covers five years.

The Palatine Park District and the Rolling Meadows Park District will share equal maintenance costs for the Salt Cree/Emerson Bike Path between Hartung Road and Emerson Avenue and the length of Emerson Avenue between Salt Creek and Plum Grove Road.

Maintenance covers upkeep of the asphalt surface and Salt Creek bridge, litter control and tree inspection.
