Bike path near Lemont a go

The Cook and DuPage county forest preserve districts will partner to build a 13-mile bike path along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad line. The path will run along the railroad from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District pumping station to the Will County border in Lemont. About 10 miles of the path are in Cook, and three in DuPage. The Illinois Department of Transportation will pay for 80 percent of the project or $179,200. The remaining 20 percent - $44,800 - will be divided between Cook and DuPage on a prorated basis of $34,944 and $9,856, respectively.
