Pertains to Hainesville | |
Next year, Hainesville pedestrians will enjoy a safer way to travel through the village using a bike path that will be constructed along Hainesville Road. The bike path will be constructed on the east side of Hainesville Road, starting at Washington Street and continuing to the Avon Township baseball complex. The village of Hainesville then plans to extend the path from Union Square along Hainesville Road to Belvidere Road. "Right now, they walk in the street. It is dangerous," Mayor Ted Mueller said. The bike path is a joint venture among the Avon Township Highway Department and village of Hainesville, Avon Township Supervisor Pat Anderson said. Planned to be between 8 and 10 feet wide and constructed of asphalt, the estimated cost to build the bike path will be $245,000. The project will be paid using the township's permanent road fund, Anderson said. Also funding the project, Mueller said, will be an $85,000 state grant the village will receive. Mueller said the village is grateful to receive support from state Rep. Sandy Cole and state Sen. Michael Bond to help obtain the grant. Receiving assistance from the county to seek bids, Anderson said the project will be awarded to a bidder next month. Construction would then start the end of March or beginning of April. |
