Bike trail planned in south suburbs

Nature lovers will be able to hike, bike and jog from Chicago's lakefront to the Indiana border next spring on an 11-mile paved trail that will extend the city's bike path through the southern suburbs.

A $2 million, 10-foot-wide, recreational bike path called the Burnham Greenway Trail will replace an abandoned Conrail line previously used by trains to carry supplies to and from the South Side's now defunct steel mills.
