The Naperville Park District is seeking public input in developing a trails master plan. The plan will be essential in enhancing connectivity for walking and biking for patrons of the Naperville Park District throughout the city of Naperville and adjacent communities, the Park District said Tuesday in a news release. The entire planning process is expected to last five to six months and will include several opportunities for public input and feedback. "Public involvement is an essential component of this project and the process has been designed to include public input at each step," the release said. The first community workshop will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 13 in the training room of the Park District's South Maintenance Facility, 3415 Book Road. A second community workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in Activity Rooms A and B of the Barn Recreation Center, 421 Martin Ave. The workshops will provide the Park District's consultant team with a better understanding of community desires, thoughts and opinions regarding existing and planned trails and trail amenities prior to creating preliminary plans and recommendations. The community workshop will also assist in the creation of evaluation criteria for trail development (bike and pedestrian), and a preliminary vision statement for the trails master plan, the release said. The Trails Master Plan vision statement is expected to align with the overall vision statement of the Park District, which is "to be a best in class parks and recreation service provider creating unity and focus in the community."
