| Regional planners are proposing a 1,000-mile network of narrow parks where residents could ride a bike, paddle a canoe or go cross-country skiing. The "greenway" network would cost tens of millions of dollars and take 20 years to develop. If and when it is finished, you would be able to hike or bike from the Wisconsin state line to the southern tip of Will County, or from the restored boulevards on Chicago's West Side to the Great Western Trail in western Kane County.
