| Gov. Thompson visited the site of a controversial proposed bike trail in St. Charles Township on Wednesday and said he "fails to see the need" for the project. "I think it's wrong to put a bike path in someone's backyard or their frontyard," Thompson told about 200 cheering members of Stop Taking Our Property (STOP), a group of Kane County homeowners. Thompson made the visit because of an escalating battle between STOP and Kane County Forest Preserve Commission and its president, Phillip Elfstrom.
