| With the Fox River flowing behind him, Gov. Thompson signed a bill Sunday in St. Charles that will hinder plans to condemn the front yards of 26 riverfront homes for a controversial bicycle trail. The bill requires the Kane County Forest Preserve District to obtain local government approval before condemning, buying or leasing property for such recreational use. More than 100 people gathered for the signing at an ice cream social sponsored by Stop Taking Our Property, an organization fighting the county's plans to ex tend its 57-mile bike path system through private yards.
