Trail blazed in Sauganash

Pertains to Valley Line Trail, Chicago, Lincolnwood
The multi-use Valley Line Trail in Sauganash has quickly taken shape since work on the mile-long foot and bike path started over the summer. Crews removed a pair of crumbling railroad viaducts and hoisted lightweight steel bridges in their place. Ramps were added between Bryn Mawr and Devon avenues to provide multiple points of access along its length. The project, part of a Rails to Trail initiative, reclaimed a vacated rail bed. It's expected to open officially when the seasons cycle back to spring. Alderman Margaret Laurino, 39th Ward, said extension potential exists. She said she was in talks with Lincolnwood Mayor Gerald Turry to keep the run, walk, or ride going as far as Pratt Avenue.
