A grant was written by the Village's Trails Task Force with the assistance of Robinson Engineering. In December 2005, the Village was notified that it had been officially approved for the $328,730 grant by the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program (CMAQ). The grant covers both engineering and construction costs for some of the Village's proposed 2.63 mile trail system along ComEd easements from Lemont south to the Bell Road substation, and then west to Parker Road. Construction is expected to occur in 2007.

The total project cost is estimated at $410,920 with the difference being met by a match from the Village's Park Donation Fund.
