Pertains to Frontier, Naperville | |
Work has begun on a pedestrian bridge over Route 59 south of Aurora. Bridge piers -- the vertical structures that support the bridge -- are first being installed on the west side of Route 59 between 95th and 103rd streets. Once the work is completed on the west side, the piers will be installed on the east side of Route 59. The bridge is slated for completion in summer 2008. When constructed, the pedestrian bridge will provide a connection between residences and the commercial and community amenities in the area. In addition, the bridge will connect Frontier Park on the east to the Virgil Gilman Trail on the west. The city of Naperville does not anticipate that construction will impact traffic along Route 59 between 95th and 103rd streets. Work will occur mostly outside the street limits, with the exception of the placement of the truss structure, which is planned to be completed during nonpeak hours. |
